For this new month, we are going to switch gears a bit and explore the theme of travel! Please join me in thinking outside of the box for this one– you don’t have to go on a cruise or a fancy vacation! Maybe you want to explore journaling your daily life travels, or find a vintage train case to store your art supplies. Maybe you want to practice sketching in nature…there are so many options! Each week we will share some new ideas, techniques, and inspirations to keep your creative juices flowing.

Texture Play

Happy Monday, Alchemists!! I have to admit, even just doing the research for this week’s inspiration board was so exciting! When you start focusing on texture, you start to see it everywhere– every brush stroke, stencil, and stamp has the ability to create amazing texture in your artwork.

Here it is! All artwork featured on this board was created by current and former Design Team members here at Gauche Alchemy. I’m drooling just looking at it!

I see PUNCHINELLA, paint, paper, gesso, lace…

We want to know,

What are your secret texture weapons?

Be sure to share your creations in our Facebook Community, or tag us on Instagram!

Where’s the color?

Whether you are working on a scrapbook layout or mixed media project, sometimes using black/white/neutrals can really help your subject stand out. It can also give colors that extra pop. But, sometimes slapping on that black paint, or covering part of your collage with a wash of white can be intimidating!

This week, we’re exploring black and white, and how to fearlessly incorporate that into our art. Please join us!!

Color Inspiration Week 1- Fresh Citrus!

Hello Gauche guys and dolls! We’ve had sort of a sleepy start this year on our blog, but we’re back with lots to share that you won’t want to miss.

Each week this month, we will be sharing a color-infused inspiration board designed to tickle your brain. If you’re anything like me, you occasionally (okay, more than occasionally) get stumped when deciding the direction of a project. I overthink, then I DON’T MAKE ANY ART AT ALL! This is no bueno!!! I created these inspiration boards to be the perfect jumping off point for your next art journal spread, canvas, or mixed media project!

Without further ado, I present week 1:

Tangerine and pink is one of my favorite color combinations! Fresh and bright, perfect for launching into spring.

So, what are you waiting for? You can now share your projects in our NEW FACEBOOK GROUP, Gauche Alchemists Studio
