Hey, Valentines!! It’s Rachel Whetzel, with a little Valentine LOVE for you. My anniversary is on Valentine’s Day, and this card is for my hubby of soon to be 16 years, so fingers crossed he doesn’t read THIS Facebook update!
This Valentine’s Day card is a grown up one. I wanted to have a little fun with my anniversary, you know. I also happen to LOVE the site, someEcards, for all their snark and sarcastic fonts. It was there that I found the perfect line for my grown up card.
I had some ephemera from the NEKKID Mixed Media Kit that I have been trying to find a way to use, because I LOVE them… but they are… hehh hummm… nekkid. When I read the line, “My favorite base is still first” I knew in an instant that I would use it on a handmade card, and that I could use one of my ephemera pieces to go with it!
Here’s a shot of some of the bits from Gauche:
The background for the card is from the Showstopper Mixed Media kit. (Sold out, but you can get more like it HERE) I used an ephemera image from the Nekkid Mixed Media kit, and fussy cut around one side of the image. The feathers, red gems and monopoly card are from the Scarlet Fever Mixed Media Color kit.
I used one of my Fiskars edge hole punches on the top of the monopoly card. I typed out the sentiment for the front of the card, on a piece of dictionary page painted with a light coat of gesso to help the typewriter font show up well. Inside the card, it says happy anniversary!!
Thanks for looking!! Do you have any “off color” Valentine’s Day cards to share? I’d love to see!
