Hi everyone! It’s Maggi here with another “Get to Know the Alchemist” feature! Today we have the spotlight on Alchemist Jennifer “Scraps” Walker!

Tell us about something or someone that you miss

Oh, man, do I miss caffeine. Several years ago I had to give it up due to some health issues and while I was never really a coffee or soda fiend, when you’re a night owl with a day job, sometimes a good cup of coffee helped. Now I’m “that girl” with the complicated coffee orders: Venti Decaf Soy Caramel Macchiatto, please.

What is an area of your home that desperately needs to be organized?

My vanity. I have this old desk that serves as my makeup/hair/meds landing spot and it collects everything and anything in the room. One of these days I’ll go all Container Store on it, but for now it’s chaos.

Name three shows you still think are “must see” TV!

Castle, CSI (Las Vegas only), and Friends re-runs (though I do own the entire show on DVD, if I need a fix).

Do you wake up easily in the morning or require coffee, exercise, or something else to get you going?

I am most definitely NOT a morning person. If I don’t shower shortly after I wake up, I’m in a fog until I do. (I honestly have no idea how I managed to be a shower-at-night person all those years ago.)

What is your own personal bedtime routine?

Take my meds, put my hair in a ponytail or braid so it doesn’t strangle me at night, climb into bed and read on my Kindle for 30 minutes to an hour.

Salty or sweet, which is your snack vice?

Sweet, definitely.

What is your guilty pleasure?

“Reality” television. Oh, I held out for the longest time (yes, I did want the first few shows of the original Real World but it didn’t grab me, then), but finally succumbed to the silly things. I have limits, though: I’ll watch Toddlers & Tiaras, but not Honey Boo-Boo, and I only watched certain Real Housewives groups, though I’m kind of over them, now. And I’ve still never watched Jersey Shore.

Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket? What’s the story?

Only 2 in my life (*knock wood*) and they were 5 weeks apart from each other. I had finished Culinary School and was working at a plantation resort just over the state line. The first happened on my way to work, still in Florida, and I didn’t see a cop pacing me. Oops. I admit, I cried (I’m a rules follower, normally, and I hate being reprimanded), but the female cop wasn’t forthcoming with the warning. I was maybe 10 miles over the limit, so not a huge fine, but still. Then, a month later, I’d just left work at 11 pm or so, in Georgia, and a sheriff’s deputy pulled me over saying I was doing 90. I don’t think that car was capable of doing 90 at its advanced age, but he wouldn’t listen to reason and I got a whopper of a ticket. I was able to take the class and get a reduced fine/avoid the points for Florida, but Georgia doesn’t have that option. It was an expensive lesson and I’m even more careful, now.

Tacky glue, puffy paint, 12″ trimmer, textured card stock, Zig dual-tip markers.
